Erasmus + 2023-1-LV01-KA220-VET-000161266 "Boosting culinary education and training"

English language skills are becoming increasingly important in the European labour market, including the field of gastronomy. Working in the catering industry often involves communicating with customers and colleagues from other countries. In a multicultural environment, misunderstandings may arise due to ignorance of the language. Knowledge of professional terms allows personnel to communicate accurately and effectively, ensuring the quick and accurate execution of tasks, and forming a sense of command. It improves the reputation of the company and the school, and it also allows to  improve the reputation of the company and the school, and lastly it allows you to participate in international culinary events.

Aim of the project:

The main objective of the project is to supplement the gastronomic curricula of the participating schools with the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) method, integrating professional English into professional subjects and offering new opportunities for professional development in the field of gastronomic education. 

Project implementation:

During the implementation of the project, teachers of the participating schools will be invited to three training activities aimed at improving English language skills and learning the CLIL method:  

  • The first training event, during which participants will improve their knowledge of English and develop an understanding of sustainability in vocational education in gastronomic education programs. This training activity will include a variety of activities aimed at raising intercultural awareness  
  • The second event, which will include professional English and sustainable methods in gastronomic education programmes. This learning event will include a variety of activities to develop mutual cultural understanding.
  • The final learning event, where teachers will learn the CLIL method and use a zero-waste approach when preparing traditional dishes from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Ukraine. 



Expected results of the project:

Illustrated electronic dictionary of gastronomic, sustainability and green approach terms in Latvian-Lithuanian-Estonian-Ukrainian-English languages

Digital learning materials for learning professional English. The materials will be filled in by the CLIL method and will be adapted to the needs of the vocational education sector

A learning platform that, by collecting all the learning materials and a digital dictionary, will provide access to all the resources developed by the project in one place
